You don't need to be afraid of making a mistake on color. Mohawk has staff colorists who look into the future for trends that will be with us a long time. To get started, look at magazines, paint and fabrics to see what's hot and coming up for the next few seasons. The work's already been done for you. All you have to do is find the color -- or colors -- you like.
In many ways, you CAN'T get it wrong. Today's color is all about YOU. It's personal!
Thinking neutrals for the floor? Shades of beiges and other earth tones? Great! You may see that as conservative, but it presents the opportunity to use your floor as a canvas on which you can create a design masterpiece. By the way, the new neutrals are in reds and greens, or they could be in black or white. The set the stage for your room's focal points |

Thinking of strong colors and patterns? Bold, bright colors and designs? That's great, too. That simply shifts the focal point to the floor!
In terms of what's popular, colors found in nature. Green is becoming a new neutral, influenced heavily in fabric, home textiles, paints and accessories. Used with tones shifting to yellow or blue, a neutral shade of green helps those other colors "pop."
Today's favorites are cleaner, "happier," more optimistic colors.
Color doesn't have to be scary. Just count to three and relax. Colors mean mood.
1 = cool (such as: white, blue and green)
2 = warm (such as: reds, golds and oranges)
3 = neutral (such as: middle tones, like beige)
What kind of feeling do you want to project? See how the same room "dressed" in different colors projects feelings of cool, warm or neutral.
REMEMBER: There's more to color than carpet. Ceramic, laminate, resilient, area rugs -- even wood -- have color. Even natural, unstained wood comes in all three moods -- cool, warm and natural. Golden, reds and burnt umber browns.
